Honouring its 100 years of box-making heritage, Danish August Sandgren handcrafts timeless, functional, and aesthetic storage objects. Their boxes, folders, and holders are a beautiful and exclusive storage alternative for those who care about their surroundings at home and in the office.
August Sandgren crafts their boxes, covers, and holders to last a lifetime by carefully considering design, choice of materials, and craftsmanship. Most of the materials used to make their objects are natural surplus materials sourced from exclusive partners in the European furniture and fashion industry. When it is not possible to craft objects from surplus materials, August Sandgren uses oeko-tex-certified European leather or natural fiber fabrics.
With all materials sourced in Europe and most of them from the areas near their workshop, neither the raw materials nor the finished objects travel more than necessary. Since the very beginning, more than 100 years ago, this is how August Sandgren has operated – and this is how they plan to continue their operations to reduce waste and over-consumption.
August Sandgren was originally founded by the renowned bookbinder and box-maker August Sandgren back in 1921. August Sandgren is accredited at Designmuseum Denmark as one of the founders of Danish functionalism alongside well-known Danish furniture designers like Kaare Klint, Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner, etc.
Under the ownership of Pia Kirkeskov Andersen, August Sandgren continues the heritage and timeless, functional, and aesthetic craftsmanship. The vision today is to become a global niche player within exclusive storage solutions – to provide an elegant alternative to small-clutter storage that we – admittedly or not – all have.
