Flashbulb Games develops games that you play with – not just play. Games that give players tools and environments to create their versions of fun. Flashbulb Games focuses on creating physics-based, emergent, and open-ended gameplay.
Flashbulb Games’ focus is to enable players to be creative within their games. No two game sessions ever have to be the same.
In their first game, Trailmakers, they’ve created a system that allows players to build their own vehicles out of blocks – much like Lego. The amazing part is that the blocks act with physical properties. That means factors like weight distribution, road grip, downforce, or lift all come into play when you are trying to build a vehicle that will take you to the other end of the world.
Anything is possible within Trailmakers, and it is up to the player’s imagination to invent and innovate to find the best solutions to the challenge in front of them.
Flashbulb Games was founded in 2016 by a group of industry veterans to unleash player creativity within games. They released the first versions of Trailmakers in 2018, and it has now sold more than 1.000.000 copies.
A large part of the success of Trailmakers was due to Pionet, a technology built in-house that enabled lightning-fast synchronization of physics objects across multiplayer clients. This tech became the company's foundation and was also used in their second title, Rubber Bandits, released in 2022.
In December 2022, Nordisk Games acquired Flashbulb Games, which is now a part of the Egmont Group.
