With their bio-degradable high heels, Roccamore matches comfort with sustainability. The Roccamore products are scientifically validated to be 44 % better in comfort than regular heels, allowing women to feel comfortable and supported with every step. Roccamore comes from the Italian words roccaforte (fortress) and amore (love). And that is the feeling Roccamore strives for when putting on a pair of their heels.
The Mary Ray was the first design by the Danish shoe manufacturer to be developed and launched as a biodegradable pair of high heels. The leather used for the shoes is tanned without the use of metals and can decompose in nature after only six months, whereas the same process takes average leather about 25-40 years. Even the material of the shoebox is sustainable. The shoe is named after the gardener and landscape designer, Mary Reynolds, whose ideology of designing with respect for nature and promoting the possibilities of working with the planet instead of against it, was an immense inspiration for the design.
Roccamore is based on the principles of transparency and opposes overproduction and waste. From the brand’s founding days, Roccamore’s shoes have been produced from the left-over materials of big fashion houses. All products are produced in limited quantities and certain models come in limited editions with only a very few pairs made. This way, Roccamore focuses on establishing sustainable processes throughout their value chain, making their production processes as respectful as possible.
Roccamore’s mission is to inspire women to stand strong and take their place in the world, and this commitment is also reflected in how they market their heels. With their #RoccamoreRebel campaigns, Roccamore celebrate those who are not afraid to stand strong in the world, and with their #RespectHighHeels campaigns, they focus on modern equality and the issues they believe make a difference.
