ROTATE and REMAIN, two fashion brands under the Birger Christensen Collective, have ventured into the metaverse by designing a collection of avatar skins for the metaverse platform ‘Ifland’. The two brands are the first European-based fashion companies to design skins alongside fashion and lifestyle digital partner MOJOMOTO, placing both ROTATE and REMAIN at the forefront of digital and metaverse advancement.
ROTATE and REMAIN launched their collection of avatar skins in 2023 on the metaverse platform Ifland in an exclusive partnership with SK Telecom, the leading ICT company in South Korea.
When using the app, users are summoned into an ‘avatar dressing room’, where they can change their avatar looks with a large selection of clothing options created from the shoppable collections from ROTATE and REMAIN. Users will also be able to access exclusive ROTATE and REMAIN skins, designed just for the Ifland users to gain a unique and differentiated experience.
It is the next step in the exciting journey of fashion innovation and Web3, referring to the next stage of Internet development. The partnership displays a global awareness towards the evolving digital world, taking garments from both brands and immortalising them in the metaverse.
The partnership with SK Telecom is an important milestone in Birger Christensen’s sustainability agenda. ‘Innovation for good’ is part of Birger Christensen’s 5 key pillars which investigates circular business models and innovations that help to decrease impact and decouple growth from the use of new materials.
The collaboration was facilitated by Lifestyle & Design Cluster, the Danish national cluster for design, furniture & fashion, who work with digitalisation and transformation towards a more circular economy in the Danish lifestyle industry.
“The collaboration follows ROTATE’s hugely successful launch into Web3 during Copenhagen Fashion Week in August 2022 where we dropped an exclusive AR experience and NFTs of one of the SS23 dresses straight off the runway, selling out within minutes. This is the first foray into the digital sphere for REMAIN, and marks a historic moment for the brand.”
Founded in 2019, Birger Christensen Collective is a radical fashion collective built for the future. It is the parent company of the two Danish brands ROTATE and REMAIN. Their mission is to empower women and drive positive change in the fashion industry.
Created in partnership between creative directors Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, the Copenhagen-based brand ROTATE has taken the world by storm with its bold and festive DNA translated into covetable partywear and everyday glamour.
ROTATE is available in more than 40 countries worldwide and is stocked at globally leading retailers such as Net-A-Porter, Selfridges, Browns Fashion, and Mytheresa.
Born from CEO & Creative Director Denise Christensen’s idea of modern sophistication. Copenhagen-based REMAIN seeks to be a clear-cut voice in a world of noise. Their aesthetic sphere is detail-driven with a refined sleekness at its core, speaking in volumes across tailored pieces, bold knitwear, and distinct leather styles.
REMAIN is available in more than 120 stores across 35 different countries around the world, including leading retailers such as SSENSE, Browns, Net-A-Porter, and Selfridges.
